TipWhy This Matters

SMIC’s fourth major mature-node fab of this expansion wave (中芯西青, 100% SMIC-owned), located in Tianjin’s Xiqing Development Area.

Chinese name: 中芯西青 (Zhōngxīn Xīqīng)

What does this facility make?

12-inch (300mm) wafers spanning 0.18 micron to 28nm process nodes.

Why does it matter?

Extends SMIC’s mature-node capacity — the segment least affected by advanced-lithography export controls — into a fourth Chinese municipality. Domestic trade coverage in early 2025 described all four of SMIC’s 2020-2022-era mega-fab JVs (Lingang, Jingcheng, Xiqing, Shenzhen) as having begun reaching production in stages (‘陆续达产’) by that point, with Xiqing’s full-capacity ramp (达产) targeted for end of 2027.
